At present communications are basically based on the propagation of electromagnetic waves. On the other hand, the elastic waves that are so intimately related to mankind communication (consider the voice) have had very secondary roles in modern transmission infrastructures. This project is related to this concept, consisting in the use of elastic waves as a transmission medium through the electrical cables. This project is only focused in setting the theoretical bases of this new technology. The main objective is to develop a model for the elastic waves propagation through the electrical cables. This model has to be able to predict the main parameters (attenuation and bandwidth) of basic transmission lines in future applications. The problem is going to be solved using two different and complementary approaches: analytical and numeric. Two models are going to be developed, each one for each alternative, and they are going to be experimentally contrasted. The deviation analysis will be used to generate, in the second phase of the project, a new model synthesis of the two previous models. The work finishes with the experimental evaluation of the synthetic model and is complemented with the dissemination of the results.
